Wichita, Kan.—(January 11, 2019)—The joint venture between High Touch Technologies and Thrive Restaurant Group has been hard at work on its new Nigel point of sale (POS) system.

Nigel logoFollowing two years of development and a successful trial run at the popular Thrive-owned HomeGrown, the joint venture began rolling out its Nigel POS system to Carlos O’Kelly’s locations last quarter. Now, the team is ready to grow alongside Thrive’s recent expansion and take the software to market.

Engineering a New POS System

The joint venture between High Touch and Thrive was born from a shared value of caring about Wichita. Wayne Chambers, President and CEO of High Touch, has served alongside Thrive President Jon Rolph on a number of community-focused councils and committees. “Wayne and I have a lot of mutual respect for one another. He was the first call I made when I recognized the need,” stated Rolph.

When Rolph was searching for a new POS system that could handle multiple locations and multiple states, he came up empty handed. Everything on the market depended on legacy code or felt outdated, so he decided to figure out how to build his own.

Chambers knew High Touch could hit a home run with a restaurant POS system—the company’s cynergi|suite rent-to-own software has illustrated that the company can be successful in a retail-based industry. “I knew we had the team to be successful,” stated Chambers. “With Jon’s restaurant knowledge and our technical knowhow, we could create a real game changer in the restaurant industry.”

Gregg Bolinger, Director of Development at High Touch, led Nigel’s software engineering efforts. In collaboration with Brian Houchin, Director of IT at Thrive, the joint venture team was able to test Nigel’s integration with standard restaurant technologies and ensure Nigel met the unique technology needs of the restaurant industry.

What Is Nigel?

Nigel is a complete restaurant management platform for any sized restaurant ranging from fast food to fine dining. By integrating a kitchen display system (KDS) with orders placed by servers at the table, Nigel simplifies communication between the front and back of the house, making sure restaurants run smoothly and efficiently.

What separates Nigel from other POS systems is its unique pricing model, feature-rich software, user-friendly interface and premium code base.

According to Rolph, “Nigel creates a quality restaurant management experience, which in turn creates an awesome, enhanced experience for our guests. Most POS systems feel like you’re using a flip phone—Nigel is basically the iPhone the restaurant industry has been craving.”
